Criteria for selecting electric planes for rating and review
Like any other tool, an electric plane must be reliable, easy to operate and maintain. In addition, have the following qualities:
- adjustable planing depth . The ease of use and quality of material processing depend on this parameter;
- high blade speed . Directly affects planing quality and productivity. The more revolutions the knife block makes, the better the quality of the processed surface;
- electric motor power . Creates additional operating comfort and increases work productivity.
Taking these factors into account, as well as analyzing reviews from real users and expert opinions, a rating of the best planes of 2021 was compiled.
How not to make a mistake with your choice?
When buying an electric planer, the main thing is not to make a mistake with the choice. The tool must meet the stated requirements of the future owner and be useful on the farm. The main criteria by which you should choose a plane:
- power. The higher it is, the more work the user can perform. But powerful tools are more difficult to manage;
- planing width. It depends on what size the wooden blanks are and how many times they will have to go through;
- planing depth - the thickness of the top layer of wood to be removed. As a rule, it is adjustable and can reach 3.5 or even 4 mm;
- rotation speed, which affects the quality of planing. The higher the speed, the better the processing will be, especially on hard wood;
- weight. Convenience of work depends on it. The larger it is, the faster the operator gets tired and the more difficult it is to control the plane;
- the presence of a groove or several grooves on the sole, allowing the use of a chamfering tool;
- the presence of a quarter sampling function, which increases the functionality of the electric planer;
- possibility of stationary use when the tool is used as a machine;
- presence of a pipe for chip ejection. It allows you to throw debris aside and makes your work easier. In addition, it usually comes with a special bag for collecting sawdust or an adapter for connecting a vacuum cleaner;
- equipment. The more additional elements a set contains, the more efficient it is in operation.

Bison ZR-950-82
The power of the Zubr ZR-950-82 electric planer is truly brutal - 950W. Working knives are made of high-speed steel and have double-sided sharpening. Infinitely variable planing depth adjustment and a rip fence make it possible to perform particularly meticulous operations. Zubr is capable of leveling surfaces, making grooves, and chamfering. Under shock loads there is no fear of engine damage. A belt drive between it and the drum will ensure reliable operation.

The planing depth is continuously adjustable. You can make cuts up to two millimeters thick. There is a groove on the front platform for chamfering. The ergonomic design of the electric planer helps even inexperienced carpenters quickly become masters.
