How to choose a Canon camera

Before you start making your choice, you need to decide on a budget for a model from Canon, and then make your own requirements for it based on the following criteria:

  • Model line. Canon offers several model lines: EOS (DSLR professional and semi-professional cameras), which are considered the best solution for professionals, EOS R (full-frame semi-professional mirrorless), EOS M (mirrorless semi-professional). There are also models: IVY REC (action cameras), IXUS (amateur compacts, which are popularly called point-and-shoot cameras), PowerShot (semi-professional compacts), Canon Zoemini (automatic compacts with a built-in mini-printer for instant printing).
  • Camera tasks. Almost every model line of Canon cameras contains devices for certain tasks. You can choose a model with superzoom (multiple zoom capability), with a wide-angle lens, for portrait photography, for video bloggers and streamers, for high-speed shooting, shooting dynamic objects, etc. If there are no specific tasks for the camera, you should pay attention to more universal models. Among the huge range of models you will find a camera for any of your tasks, the main thing is to decide on it.
  • Dimensions. Even among the IXUS and PowerShot lines, there are both portable models that can easily fit into a pocket, and quite massive ones that have the capabilities of professional cameras.
  • Availability of additional options. Some Canon models are equipped with a GPS module, orientation sensors, remote controls and the ability to control from a PC, as well as other options. Decide which options you really need and which ones you don't.

As when choosing a camera of any other brand, also pay attention to autonomy, support for wireless data transfer, protection of the body from moisture, if this is important, maximum resolution and frame rate of video recordings, type of stabilization (optical, digital or combined), the ability to connect an external microphone for recording video with high-quality sound, ISO range.

Immediately before purchasing, the camera must be checked for dead pixels. Even the best Canon cameras often have such defects.

Canon EOS 6D Body

Externally, the model is similar to products of previous generations, but the filling is original. The display here is static, all the buttons for controlling shooting modes are located in the area of the right hand, which is quite convenient for most photographers. In terms of the relationship between cost and final image quality, this product strikes the perfect balance. It is equipped with a full-frame CMOS matrix with a resolution of 20 megapixels. Automation allows you to take portraits with a slightly blurred background. Macro photography is also at a very high level. The minimum shooting shutter speed is 1/4000, which is not much less compared to top-end DSLRs, which can cost up to several hundred thousand rubles. The viewfinder is optimized in such a way that it covers almost 100% of the frame, so all moving objects are captured reliably in the picture, and there is no blur.

The autofocus system includes 11 points that are located closer to the center of the image. It will be impossible to ensure a clear photograph if the subject is located at the edge of the frame, but if the viewfinder is positioned correctly, this can be done easily. The model has a very powerful Wi-Fi module, which allows you to transfer received images to a secondary device from a considerable distance - up to 40 meters.

  • Superbly designed device control menu;
  • Relatively low weight and acceptable overall dimensions;
  • You can control the device remotely;
  • Natural reproduction of colors in photographs;
  • Pleasant shutter sound.

  • If video is being recorded, the Wi-Fi module is disabled.

Canon EOS 6D Body

Canon EOS 6D Mark II Kit

The leader in this section of our review of the best Canon cameras is a full-frame DSLR, characterized by not too high a cost, but excellent quality of photographs, workmanship and a number of other outstanding parameters. There is a CMOS matrix installed here with a full-frame sensor, the size of which is 24x36 mm, thanks to which it was possible to achieve a resolution of 26.2 megapixels. When developing the sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology was used, which ensures almost instantaneous phase focusing both when shooting videos and when using Live View mode. The camera has a DIGIC 7 processor. Continuous shooting in .raw format reaches 7 frames per second with excellent frame detail. There is no blurring or other defects in the picture.

Automatic focus is displayed on the touch display in real time, the delay is completely unnoticeable, so you can take photos and shoot videos, looking immediately at the final quality of the data. The focusing area is selected in manual mode, which is also quite convenient. The viewfinder is equipped with 45 object search points, which are concentrated not only in the center of the frame, but also closer to the edges. This allows you to capture a moving object in the dynamics of movement. The display here is rotating, touch-sensitive, its diagonal is 3 inches, but the resolution is very high - about 1.4 megapixels. Using this camera you can shoot a Full HD quality video with a frame rate of 50/60 per second.

Advantages:

  • The case is reliably protected from dust and moisture;
  • Originally developed ergonomics of the device;
  • Relatively reasonable cost;
  • There is a built-in long exposure timer;
  • Convenient location of the memory card slot;
  • Rotatable touch screen.
