If you are going to buy yourself a modern, reliable and durable TV, then you should know that they are selected according to several criteria. For example, first of all you should always look at the diagonal and cost of the device, as well as the manufacturer, because these are the main criteria. And from the proposed models you will choose the appropriate device.
But modern TVs are therefore more difficult to choose, because they have too many important areas. For example, the presence of a Smart TV function is now in demand, and many buyers consider the presence of this function along with the main characteristics. But we've made it even easier for you. In today's article, we will tell you about the best Samsung Smart TVs available for sale in 2021.
Samsung LCD TVs 2021. Review of the model range.
Let me remind you that there are still no films in 8K. The situation is worse than it was with 4k TVs in 2013. The hardware of the most powerful PCs also cannot support 8k with 60 frames - there is barely enough for 4k, and even then not everywhere.
So, I hope the reader has already formed an opinion about the vital 8k TV for now and in the near future.
On our website you can read the review of QLED 8k Samsung TVs 2021 by Vyacheslav Fedotov.
What all this means - Samsung is focusing on 8k TVs and, in order for them to sell better, is releasing 4k QLED TVs with more modest specifications. All this is quite logical, albeit sad. And I would like to say here that this is a general practice, but no. For example, Panasonic can afford to produce luxurious 4k OLED TVs, but cannot yet expand to 8k. To be fair, he also cannot afford HDMI 2.1 yet, although with the release of new generation consoles and video cards this year, this would be a logical step and a plus for TV sales. Because Such TVs are bought not only by movie buffs, but also by modern gamers. And the TV itself is taken for more than one year.
Let's return, nevertheless, to the culprits of the review - Samsung 4k TVs of 2021.
Or rather, even a little earlier. In 2021, the world leader in TV production, Samsung, released two worthy 4k QLED TVs - Q90R and Q80R. Both had local dimming, the best anti-glare filter on the market, wide viewing angles and high brightness so that owners of these TVs could experience the effect of HDR in movies and TV series. In games the situation was more complicated, because... Local dimming, if it worked at all, was extremely ineffective. Which gave rise to a serious contradiction between a seemingly gaming TV with a set of additional functions to improve the gaming experience, on the one hand, and the lack of high-quality images in games in practice, on the other.
In 2021, Samsung has prepared one decent 4k QLED TV for its fans – the Q95T.
On our market it is represented by the following diagonals:
55Q95T (55Q95TAUXRU), 65Q95T (65Q95TAUXRU), 75Q95T (75Q95TAUXRU), 85Q95T (85Q95TAUXRU).
This TV can produce a brightness of over 1000 cd/m2, so its happy owner will have a positive effect from HDR. To better control this brightness across the entire screen, local backlight dimming is used in 120 zones. Yes, there are fewer zones compared to the Q90R, but the dimming algorithm itself has been significantly improved. The brightness of subtitles for viewing in the dark has also been reduced to create less ghosting around them. Local dimming in the Q95T no longer eats away some of the detail in some scenes, and many bright light sources on the screen look brighter than they did on the 4k flagship in 2021.
Another undoubted big advantage is the correct operation of local dimming in game mode. It still does not work at full capacity, as when watching movies, but it is already significantly better than all Samsung 2021 models. By all, we also mean 8K TVs.
The second important point is that the chic anti-glare filter remained in place, but the viewing angle expander was redesigned - viewing angles were slightly lowered, but the contrast of the panel was increased. Accordingly, the picture in dark scenes will be three-dimensional, and the viewing angles for those who are not strictly in front of the TV are better than those of TVs with standard -VA matrices.
All the “brains” of the TV are located in the One Connect Box - an external box that powers both the TV screen and itself. A transparent 5-meter cord and remote control via Bluetooth allows you to hide it in any closet if necessary (however, it is advisable that there is good ventilation there). The screen itself, in turn, can be hung on the wall as closely as possible.
For those who will connect the TV to PS5, Xbox Series X or new late 2021 video cards with HDMI 2.1, use HDMI connector No. 4.
Overall, if you're in the mood to buy a 4k QLED Samsung TV with the best possible picture quality, don't settle for anything other than the Q95T. And set yourself up for the appropriate price tag.
Just in case, for those who will mount the TV on the wall and suddenly don’t figure out how:
for 55 inches the VESA bracket is 200×200, 65 inches – 400×300 (we’re just looking for the 400×400 option), 75 inches – 400×400, 85 inches – 600×400. Despite the fact that the 55' is hung at 200x200, I would recommend buying a bracket with VESA 400x400 - they are usually stronger. But saving on matches is inappropriate here.
The TV screen is wiped clean from fingers and dust with microfiber or microfiber moistened with water. See the instructions for your TV for more details.
This concludes our brief review of the Q95T holiday series and moves on to more severe everyday life.
Q87T and Q80T series.
Let's move on to a brief review of the 8 series QLED TVs from Samsung.
And instead of the phrase “well-made Q80R”, we will, on the recommendation of a well-known user from the forum, use “improved Q77R”. If we lower the price modestly, this is true.
The Q87T and Q80T differ from each other by the presence of a metal smart remote control in the first.
The diagonals are as follows:
49Q87T (49Q87TAUXRU), 55Q87T (55Q87TAUXRU), 65Q87T (65Q87TAUXRU), 75Q87T (75Q87TAUXRU), 85Q87T (85Q87TAUXRU).
49Q80T (49Q80TAUXRU), 55Q80T (55Q80TAUXRU), 65Q80T (65Q80TAUXRU), 75Q80T (75Q80TAUXRU), 85Q80T (85Q80TAUXRU).
So, what do we lose by buying this representative of the QLED family instead of the Q95T:
— peak brightness for HDR is noticeably lower, the effect is weak
— local dimming with half the number of zones (48)
— there is no better anti-glare filter on the market, which is important for bright rooms and those who do not like to see their reflection in the screen
— no viewing angle expander using an additional filter
- no One Connect Box. The thickness of the 55Q95T is just under 3.5 cm. The thickness of the 55Q87T, 55Q80T is almost 5.5 cm. For those who want to hang the TV like a picture, 2 extra centimeters can already be a disaster. Unlike the Q95T, the Q87T/Q80T does not support the proprietary “No Gap Wall Mount”.
If we consider this TV blindfolded as a replacement for the Q77R/Q70R - yes,
— peak brightness increased
— viewing angles have become better
— in gaming mode, local dimming should now work, but how effective it will be will be shown in a future test of the 55Q80T.
- added from the older series Object Tracking Sound (OTS) - more accurate reproduction of sound behind a moving object on the screen thanks to four speakers - below and above the TV.
— Q-Symphony technology allows Q series sound bars and TV speakers to sound simultaneously (via optical or HDMI).
— HDMI 2.1 for new consoles and video cards (number 4)
True, the case with thin frames is now plastic - more careful when transporting and installing the TV.
And 49', traditionally for Samsung, has a 60 Hz matrix.
Prices for the Q80T can be found here:
Now let's compare the price of 55Q95T and 55Q87T; at the moment the difference is +- 30,000. A good amount, but in this case it is better to pay extra than to save on.
Forward to the review of the Q77T, Q70T series.
It's presented a little differently:
Three diagonals with a metal remote control and a foot in the center - 55Q77T (55Q77TAUXRU), 65Q77T (65Q77TAUXRU), 75Q77T (75Q77TAUXRU).
Four diagonals with a plastic remote control and legs on the sides (those who hang the TV on the wall can save money) - 55Q70T (55Q70TAUXRU), 65Q70T (65Q70TAUXRU), 75Q70T (75Q70TAUXRU), 85Q70T (85Q70TAUXRU).
- lower peak brightness
- Dual LED backlighting, but don’t let the picture on the website confuse you - it’s still the same Edge backlighting from below that was in the Q70T analogue - Q60R.
In general, this is the direct successor to the Q60R, which also has
- slightly wider viewing angles
— the matrix coating copes with external lighting a little better
- there is HDMI 2.1 (fourth port)
- Adaptive Picture support (ambient light sensor under the Samsung logo, which adjusts not only brightness, but also contrast)
— support for Adaptive Sound+ (adjusting sound frequencies depending on the scene on the screen)
— support for Active Voice Amplifier (amplification of high frequencies (speech) if the TV recognizes strong extraneous noise)
- improved Ambient+ mode (digital frame/picture mode)
Like the Q60R (except for the 49' diagonal), the Q70T/Q77T has a 120 Hz matrix (clearer, more voluminous processing of dynamic scenes from any signal sources). Like the Q60R from 55', the Q77T/Q70T supports FreeSync Premium, that is, 48-120 Hz variable frame rate over HDMI with HDR support.
Suppose we want 120 Hz QLED at the lowest price, so we are interested in the Q70T series (so as not to overpay for the central leg and metal remote control):
59,000+ - at the moment. A twofold difference in price relative to the 4K flagship and +50% relative to the Q87T.
Since the TV uses Edge backlighting, which is generally more uniform in bright light, this TV may be suitable for sports fans, in particular football and hockey.
Let's move on to Q67T, Q60T Samsung 2020 QLED series.
Q67T is presented in three diagonals - 43Q67T (43Q67TAUXRU), 50Q67T (50Q67TAUXRU), 58Q67T (58Q67TAUXRU).
Q60T - 43Q60T (43Q60TAUXRU), 50Q60T (50Q60TAUXRU), 55Q60T (55Q60TAUXRU), 65Q60T (65Q60TAUXRU), 75Q60T (75Q60TAUXRU).
There is also a Dual LED (Edge) backlight here, but 60 Hz in all diagonals.
There is no FreeSync Premium support for owners of AMD and Xbox One video cards (it was in the 55RU8000+, for reference).
Adaptive Picture, wide viewing angle, OTS, AVA no.
Ambient mode and adaptive sound mode are simplified.
The smoothness of gradient transitions displays worse.
And all this at the following prices:
The current minimum price on the Yandex market for 55Q60T is 49,000+-. It seems to me that in this case it is better to pay an additional 10,000 to 55Q70T. Or, for the thrifty ones, (perhaps? – we’ll find out a little later) take the next friend.
TU8570, TU8510, TU8500 series.
43TU8570 (43TU8570UXRU), 50TU8570 (50TU8570UXRU), 55TU8570 (55TU8570UXRU), 65TU8570 (65TU8570UXRU).
43TU8510 (43TU8510UXRU), 50TU8510 (50TU8510UXRU).
43TU8500 (43TU8500UXRU), 50TU8500 (50TU8500UXRU), 55TU8500 (55TU8500UXRU), 65TU8500 (65TU8500UXRU).
There are no quantum dots here, but the backlight is the same as in the Q60T/Q70T. The matrix is the same as in the Q60T, 60 Hz.
The game swimmer is present, as is the simplified Ambient mode.
The brightness margin is generally modest, which is not news for budget TVs. This is an analogue of RU7400/7470 from 2021.
If we take the same RU8000, then it has higher brightness and displays a compressed signal with better quality, including the smoothness of gradient transitions.
This model, as well as all other 4K TVs 2020 Samsung, has support for 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
The main advantage that distinguishes this model from even more budget ones is the more uniform illumination on the light Edge (Dual LED).
On the other hand, in 2021, models from RU7100 to Q60R had the same type of backlight on board.
TU8510 comes in a white case.
Prices for the most popular option (i.e., TU8500):
Currently, the price for 55TU8500 starts at 48,000, but the majority of offers start at 50,000. Something is completely wrong with pricing at the moment)
And there is no point in considering this model if there is a Q60T at the same price.
Next are TU8000, TU7500 and TU7100 series.
In general, this is the same TV, with the only difference being that the TU7100 and TU7500 differ in the arrangement of the legs. And the TU8000 comes with a smart remote control, rather than a regular push-button one, and has an Ambient mode and a gaming controller. Also, the TU8000 has 2 USB and 3 HDMI, while the TU7100 and TU7500 have one less connector of each type.
Backlighting in Direct TV data is not recommended for football/hockey fans, because... When the camera moves left and right, vertical stripes and simply gray translucent spots may be noticeable.
TU8000 is available in the following diagonals:
43TU8000 (43TU8000UXRU), 50TU8000 (50TU8000UXRU), 55TU8000 (55TU8000UXRU), 65TU8000 (65TU8000UXRU), 75TU8000 (75TU8000UXRU), 82TU8000 (82TU8000UXRU).
TU7500 and TU7100 – from 43' to 75'.
Why are there so many identical budget models (TU7100, TU7140, TU7160, TU7170; TU7500, TU7540, TU7560, TU7560)? In addition to the fact that there are greater discounts on certain models in retail chains, this is also done so that competitors have less space on the shelves.
Making links to all these models would take up more space than the entire review took up, so let’s see what the 55” options are currently priced at.
55TU8000
40,000+ - they offer to pay for this model.
55TU7500
37,000, saving 3000 makes the purchase of this TV quite dubious.
55TU7100
35,000, savings relative to TU8000 are 5,000.
How significant this difference is, everyone decides for themselves. Well, plus prices will be adjusted throughout the year.
You can get something better and cheaper. Or just cheaper.
Based on the current situation, there are four optimal options:
- for those who need maximum image quality - Q95T and no other;
- for those who are cheaper, but at least with a 120Hz matrix - Q70T;
- for those who don’t need 120 Hz, but don’t want to buy the budget - Q60T;
- well, for those who just want a Samsung TV - TU7100.
