When an error occurs
To determine what the UC error means, you need to find out when it appears on the display. Samsung washing machine gives an error:
- After the wash starts, when the hatch is locked and you press the start button;
- After the first set of water;
- After heating the heating element;
- During the spin cycle, when the drum is just starting to spin.
Error 9C on the display may appear at any other time during operation. Solving the problem depends on correctly identifying the cause.
What do the error codes on the display mean?
Error 9E1, 9E2, 9C, UC indicates problems with power supply. If the washing machine encounters an increase or decrease in voltage, it displays an error during the washing process.
Error 9E2 appears on the display of the washing machine when an abnormal voltage is detected for 30 seconds.
Samsung washing machine models released before 2012 did not respond to voltage surges from 175 to 270 V. Today, models are produced that have ultra-sensitive surge protectors. Therefore, many residents of small settlements were faced with the question of how to fix the problem when the 9E1 indication occurs.
With a short-term power surge, the UC code disappears on its own. The washing machine continues the washing program automatically.
Possible causes of malfunction requiring professional repair
As experts note, in Samsung washing machines, error 3e is one of the most common, just like 8e and EA. But they recommend not to fix it on your own, but to immediately contact a technician or a service center if the unit is still under warranty.
- If during operation the machine takes in water, makes several revolutions of the drum, and, stopping, gives an error, then in this case a possible malfunction lies in the breakdown of the tachometer (Hall sensor). In this case, the technician changes the Hall sensor itself.
- The machine operates in normal mode, but when you try to change the washing program, error 3e, or EA or 8e, and so on, appears on the display. The reason for such a breakdown may lie in oxidation, subsequent weakening of the contact of the magnetic ring of the tachogenerator, as well as the surface of the shaft in the engine structure. In this case, each surface of the tachogenerator assembly and the motor shaft is completely replaced.
- An equally common problem that owners of Samsung washing machines may encounter is that the washing goes fine, but the laundry does not spin out afterwards. Often after this, error 3e or 3c appears on the unit’s display, as well as EA or 8e. As the experts note, the first thing to do is to check the fastening, which can unwind during operation, causing the equipment to fail.
- The washing machine draws water before starting work and does not spin the drum after starting - no matter what program is installed, the display will show an error of 3rd or another. In this case, experts talk about a malfunction in the unit’s engine. Most often they talk about a winding break or a direct short circuit. A malfunction of the winding itself in an electric motor is eliminated by many unit owners by rewinding it at the point where the integrity of the motor is damaged. But, as practice shows, this is an ineffective solution to the problem, since it is necessary to completely change the motor itself.
- If the SMA stops, and then displays error 3e or EA, like 8e, 2-5 minutes after starting the wash, subsequent spinning, when the unit picks up speed. In this case, the technicians talk about problems with the engine itself - the drive belt has stretched, fallen off, or split. This problem will be indicated by jerks and “slips” in the operation of the engine during the washing process, and the tachometer sees this malfunction and displays it on the display. The solution to this problem is simple - technicians can simply change the belt in the drive system. Another reason for the error in this case may be wear of the electric motor brushes - in this case, the electronic field created by them will simply not be enough for a full wash and increase in speed. The solution to this breakdown is simple and quick - complete replacement of worn brushes, which can be done at home.
- Some owners of Samsung washing machines may encounter a situation in which the drum spins after drawing water, and then the display shows an error code 3e, like EA or 8e. This error can occur at any stage of startup and operation of the unit: at the stage of washing, rinsing and spinning clothes. Most often, experts call the cause of such a breakdown a break in the electrical circuit of the tachogenerator - this could be a damaged wire or a short circuit, as well as broken contacts. The solution to the problem is to restore the broken integrity of the wire itself, or completely replace the cable. The place of the broken contact is re-soldered, weak contacts are cleaned, and then tightened.
- Often the SMA turns off after the start of washing or rinsing, spinning, and error 3e appears on the display. In this case, the technicians talk about a malfunction in the control module itself. The signal coming from it disappears. Most often, the cause of such a breakdown is a broken track on the electronic board. It is possible that elements of the system have simply shorted out or burned out - relays, resistance, diodes or a capacitor, which are responsible for the speed, rotation of the engine during operation, as well as communication with the tachogenerator. How to fix the breakdown in this case? Simply a burned out and failed element of the system, be it a relay or a diode, is replaced with a new one. If the system module itself fails, it is replaced with a new one and such work is carried out exclusively by a master who has certain skills and knowledge.
Even if you were unable to correct the error 3e, EA or 8e displayed on the display, do not despair. The main thing is not to try to eliminate it yourself without having the necessary knowledge and experience. The best solution is to invite a specialist. And if the unit is under warranty, then the best option would be to send it to a service center.
Why does the error occur?
When 9E2 appears on the display of the washing machine, the reasons for this are:
- Malfunctions in the socket;
- Using an unsuitable or low-quality extension cord;
- Sudden surge in voltage;
- The voltage in the network does not correspond to the standard;
- Short-term failure in the machine control unit;
- Problems with the control module.
When the UC error is on, you can often fix it on your own. Sometimes it is necessary to involve a specialist in the work because a breakdown has occurred.
Errors in water supply
When problems arise with the supply and flow of water from the water supply system, several values are displayed.
E1
At any stage of the wash, error E1 may appear on the display board, indicating a problem with water entering the drum. The problem occurs at the stage of collecting water before washing, during preparation for rinsing the laundry.
There are several unfavorable factors in the emergence of a problem situation:
- lack of water;
- access to water is blocked (they often forget about the closed tee tap);
- clogged filters;
- failure of the control system;
- contacts and wiring are damaged.
4C2
The code will appear on the display of the washing machine when hot water is supplied (temperature above 55 degrees)
It is important to remember that only cold tap water should go into the machine drum
The inlet hose must only be connected to the cold water tap. Before turning on the equipment, you need to check what kind of water is being poured. If it is hot, then you need to wait until the cold one pours out. If this does not happen, be sure to use the help of a plumber.
4C
This code indicates a problem with the water supply system. In some situations you will be able to cope on your own, in others you cannot do without the help of a specialist and replacement of some parts:
- The cold water supply to the entire water supply system is turned off.
- Damage to any part of the hose.
- Hot water supply.
- Filter clogged or damaged.
- Incorrect water supply to the machine.
4E2
If the temperature of the water entering the drum is above 55 degrees, then error code 4E2 will be displayed. The problem is associated with malfunctions in the sensor or wires connected to the control module.
4E
When the equipment does not detect the flow of water, error 4E is issued. There are many reasons for its appearance:
- lack of water in the water supply;
- the supply valve is closed;
- breakdown of the filling valve;
- leaks lead to flooding of internal systems with water;
- damage to electrical wires;
- the value pops up if the control module breaks down.
4E1
Most often, a problem code occurs when the water temperature exceeds 70 degrees during the drying process of washed items.
If the device does not provide heating of water, then a system for supplying both cold and hot water from the water supply is equipped. Each hose has its own inlet valve. If you mix up the inlets, an error will occur. Such models of cars are extremely rare, so the problem is not widespread.
How to fix the problem
The error can be reset by simply “rebooting” the washing machine - after this you will find out whether the fault code will appear again. To do this you need:
- Turn off the washing machine by pressing the corresponding button and unplugging the cord from the outlet;
- Wait 5 minutes;
- Plug in and start the washing machine again.
If after this the machine works and no longer issues the UC code, then the problem was a short-term voltage failure. If the code lights up on the display again, then you need to further look for the cause in order to eliminate the malfunction.
What to do if the previous steps did not help
To eliminate the UC code that appears, you need to:
- Check the electrical network and its voltage. For this purpose, it is better to contact an electrician;
- Install a voltage stabilizer to compensate for voltage drops;
- Check the socket and electrical wiring for serviceability;
- Remove the extension cord (if the machine is connected to the network through it) and connect directly to the outlet. The outlet should have moisture protection to prevent you from getting an electric shock.
If, after all the checks, the washing machine continues to indicate a power failure, then the problem is a faulty control module. And here you can’t do without calling a master.
Reasons for the error
There are many reasons why error E1/E7 occurs on a Samsung machine. Although at first glance it seems that everything is simple. So, Samsung SMAs can issue E1 (E7) for the following reasons:
- There is no water in the pipeline. An unexpected shutdown of water during washing does not happen often, but such a possibility exists. Sometimes the error is caused by a closed tee tap on the pipe, which the user forgot to open before washing.
- If your Samsung device has an Aquastop system installed (protecting the washing machine from leaks), then E1/E7 may occur due to its operation.
- The pressure switch tube has come loose or is kinked.
- There is a blockage in the intake valve filter. Before entering the inlet hose, the water passes through a small mesh. Over time, it can become clogged, which will slow down the flow of water into the drum. As a result, the machine displays error E1/E7 or similar ones.
- Failure in the control module. Typically, such disturbances are short-term and can be “treated” by simply restarting the washing machine.
- Wiring problems. The wires may burn out or fray (or simply come off), and the contacts may oxidize. This is fraught not only with the occurrence of errors during operation of the unit, but also with a short circuit. And this is a direct threat not only to the machine itself, but also to human life.
- Intake valve malfunction. For example, after a burnout. A non-working valve will not be able to open and close correctly and the code E1/E7 will appear on the display at the start of the program.
- Other problems with the pressure switch and electronic components of the washing machine. They arise due to manufacturing defects, short circuits, liquid getting into sensitive circuits, etc. In this case, the electronic module can produce all sorts of errors, not just E1 or E7.
Water inflow
A water supply error in the washing machine will cause codes 4E, 4E1, 4E2, 4C, 4C2 or E1 to appear on the display. If the unit cannot fill with water, then the reasons for this breakdown may be the following:
- Water physically cannot get into the machine, for example, due to the lack of cold water in the house.
- Problems with the hose: pinched, clogged, bent.
- The filter is clogged.
- Incorrect assembly or bad contacts.
- The Aquastop hose protection is activated.
- The machine is connected to pipes with hot water instead of cold.
The solution to a problem must logically correspond to the reasons for its occurrence. You need to check the availability of cold water in the house, open the water supply tap to the machine, remove blockages or replace broken parts.
UC error on Samsung washing machine: what to do?
The self-diagnosis system of an automatic washing machine checks the components and assemblies of the device in real time and, if a malfunction is detected, displays an error message. Knowing the fault code, it is easy to identify the problem unit and take measures to correct the situation. A fairly common error, which is more familiar to residents of remote parts of the country, is the UC error. The main reason for its appearance is the instability of power supply. Most often, the problem can be fixed on your own, however, in particularly difficult cases it will not be possible to do without calling a specialist.
UC error code, what does it mean?
The UC error on a Samsung washing machine indicates problems with the power supply of the device. Most often, this message appears on the screens of relatively new models released after 2012. This is due to the fact that older machines had less finicky surge protectors and worked stably with a network voltage range from 175 to 250V or more.
