What causes crashes?

The car is behaving strangely

An indirect sign of a board failure is strange behavior of the machine: the drum rotates madly; it either collects or drains water; the order of programs changes and the like. If the engine, sensors and pump are working properly, repair or replacement of the part with a new one is necessary.

The device does not turn on

For detailed diagnostics, you need an electrical circuit of the unit and a multimeter to check for possibly burnt-out radio components.

But first, rule out other faults: check the outlet, cord and the presence of electricity in the network. If everything is in order with them, it is not a fact that it is the board that is broken: the power button may also break.

The machine freezes

If the washer periodically stops and then continues to work, pay attention to the electronic module or programmer (depending on the specific model). Professional diagnostics, flashing or replacement of the control element are required.

The device does not work: it writes an error, the indicators blink

If the display shows an error code or a corresponding symbol, this does not mean that the problem is in the board. The reason could be a malfunction of the heating element, lack of water, an open door and much more. Specific error codes are written in the instructions for the machine or on the official website without a display; errors are indicated by blinking indicators on the front panel. If all the lights are on, the capacitors in the control unit may be broken. A specific set of flashing lights indicates a specific problem. The machine does not wash according to the program

If the machine loses its program, starts washing for longer than the allotted time, without switching to rinse or spin mode, there may be problems with the dial, with draining, heating the water, or overloading the drum.

  • If there is underfilling, clean all existing filters and hoses, check the water pressure in the system and whether the fill valve is working.
  • If water comes in but doesn't go out, clear the blockage in the drain hose and check the pump.
  • If heating is insufficient, pay attention to the heating element and temperature sensor.

If this is definitely not the case, then the software module is buggy and you need to find out why (more on this below).

The washing temperature is not maintained

One of the symptoms is that the control board may not be sending a signal to the heating element.

Or, the water does not reach the desired temperature because the heating element is faulty. Less commonly, a temperature sensor or controller fails. In this case, the water may boil, which will significantly shorten the life of the washing machine.

Which parts break more often?

Any automatic machine can fail. Each brand has its own weak points, which are the first to be affected by a breakdown. Turkish SMAs are no exception. Their problems are:

  • The washing program does not start. The control panel functions normally, the machine itself turns on, a mode is selected, but the start button does not respond to pressing.

How to fix a washing machine: device and principle of operation

The operating principle of the machine is quite simple. All automatic washing machines work on the same principle. They differ only in programs and design. The washing machine Indesit, Desna, Atlant automatic or any other model consists of 20 units.

The classic functions simply. First of all, water is drawn into the machine through the inlet valve, in the required volume. Then, as the water level set by the programmer regulator is reached, the valve closes. The next step is heating the water.

If the washer does not have a temperature sensor, the heater turns off the timer.

Then the engine begins to function in conjunction with the heater. However, it does not rotate at full power. At this moment, the drum is spinning at different time intervals in both directions. Next, the dirty water is removed using a pump and the drum is refilled. Then the electric motor turns on and the clothes are rinsed at low speed. Next, the electric motor is turned off, and water is pumped out again. And finally, the electric motor operates at full power: the laundry is wrung out. The pump is on throughout the entire wash cycle.

DIY Vestel washing machine repair

Let's start with the most easily repaired breakdowns, moving on to more complex ones.

The program does not start

Users are confident that if the program crashes and the start button does not work, then the problem is definitely in the electronic module. Judge for yourself: the program selector works, the LEDs are on, programs are selected, but they cannot be launched. In every 4th car of the Turkish brand, the electronic door lock (UBL) fails, which is why the control module does not receive information that the hatch is locked and does not start the car. In this case, no fault codes are illuminated.

What the user sees from the outside: a closed hatch and a working panel, but the mode still does not turn on. In rare cases, the button itself is to blame (read about replacing it here), but usually the solution is simpler:

  1. Turn off the equipment.
  2. Let it sit for a while - 10-15 seconds.
  3. Launch it.
  4. If there is no result, repeat the steps.
  5. The problem persists, rebooting doesn't help? Move on.

Unplug the machine and:

  • Open the hatch.
  • Armed with a Phillips screwdriver, twist the pair of fasteners that are located near the locking mechanism.

  • Remove the UBL.

Be carefull! There is a wiring to the device - do not break it.

  • Take a tester to measure the resistance at the contacts of the UBL sensor. A working thermistor will show 900 Ohms in a cold state. If the ohmmeter screen shows 0 or 1, the blocker is broken.

But you shouldn’t undertake repairs at home of such a complex element as a control module - entrust the task to specialists, otherwise you risk the entire machine if something goes wrong. You will need not only an electrical circuit for the washing machine, but also certain tools and appropriate skills.

SMA freezes at the initial stage of the program

Self-repair is possible if the equipment is bothered by freezing during the initial stages of washing. This can happen in the first 5-10 minutes of the cycle or a couple of minutes before the end of the program. The behavior of the SMA may be strange: the drum does not stall at all, the user panel is working, the indicators are on, the screen displays the washing process, but the washing itself is not performed.

If code E07 lights up on the screen, proceed as follows:

  1. Unplug the power cord. Wait half a minute and plug the plug into the outlet.
  2. If the problem is resolved, the board has rebooted and the failure will not occur again.
  3. Reboot didn't help? Turn off the washer and check that the installation is even. Installation on a crooked floor without level adjustment is the cause of failure.

  1. UBL. Press the door tighter and, if the SM reacts to this, check the device in the same way as we wrote above.

Note! The first signs of problems with the sunroof will be jamming when opening. If you notice in time, you will avoid problems.

An incident is considered global after it is repeated several times and when code E07 is periodically displayed on the screen. This indicates an almost 100% failure of the electronics, which is not recommended to be repaired yourself.

There are funds left in the cuvette

Vestel machines can be washed without using special products poured into the powder receptacle. The main reason lies in the water supply valve.

Masters note that almost all machines, such as Vestel Bora and others, have defective valves. Moreover, defective parts do not appear from the first days of operation of the equipment - they can become a problem suddenly, for example, after the end of the warranty period.

The user starts the selected mode, and the control model commands the valve to start supplying water to the SMA tank. If everything is fine, the valve is activated, opens and the tank is filled, after which the wash starts. When a valve is faulty, it does not open all the way. Water is drawn in, but the pressure is less than expected: water flows into the tank, bypassing the powder receptacle. This significantly affects the quality of processing of things.

Important! In Samsung, LG or Indesit models, self-diagnosis promptly detects difficulties in water intake, displaying an error on the display. At Vestela, self-diagnosis in this matter may not notice insufficient pressure.

A valve with a defect cannot be repaired - replace it with a new, serviceable part. Select the appropriate part that matches the model of your SM, and get down to installation.

How to disassemble the equipment to replace the valve? Instructions:

  1. Disconnect the electrical appliance.
  2. Disconnect from communications.
  3. Take it out of the niche.
  4. Unscrew the fastenings of the top panel and remove (this is written in detail in the article on how to remove the top cover).
  5. In the place where the inlet hose is connected to the body of the equipment, there is a valve.
  6. Disconnect the wires from the part.
  7. Twist the fasteners that hold the plastic part in place and remove it.
  8. Install the new valve by tightening the fasteners and connecting the wires.
  9. Connect the washing machine to the systems and run a test wash to check the correctness of the work done.

The machine does not start to wash

Nowadays, the prevailing opinion among most users is that if the program for the washing mode does not start and there is no reaction from the corresponding button located on the control panel, then this applies specifically to the electronics.

Basically, the situation looks much simpler than it seems to clients. In approximately 40 percent of all such situations, according to statistics, the sensor, which is necessary to block the hatch, breaks down. Therefore, the module that controls the unit thinks that the hatch is in an open state and, accordingly, does not allow the washing mode to start. It also does not display a message on the display indicating an error has occurred.

Thus, the hatch is in the closed position and the person presses the start button, but with this action there is no reaction from the device. Then repairing a Vestel washing machine with your own hands can be done quite simply.

What should you do to find the cause of the malfunction?

  1. First of all, you need to turn off the machine and then wait 10 seconds. After that you need to turn it on. If this situation recurs, a repeat procedure is required. If after this the situation repeats, then you need to move on to the next step of the algorithm.

How can I find out about other breakdowns?

If you are a fan of self-repair, fault codes will help you find and eliminate faults in time. The most common of them:

  • E01 (in models without a display, the first 2 of 4 indicators are lit) indicates UBL.
  • E03 (the first and last lights are lit) - code for a blockage (other failure) of the drain system.
  • E05 (second and last lamps) indicate a burnt-out temperature sensor.
  • E07 (the first three lights are on) - failure of the electronic module.
  • E08 (the last three indicators come on) - the electric motor has broken down.

Instructions: how to disassemble a washing machine

When the tool is prepared, you can begin to disassemble the household device at home. To disassemble front-loading washing machines yourself, you will need tools.

Namely:

  • Plus screwdriver;
  • Minus screwdriver;
  • Wrenches 19, 8 and 9;
  • Clamp cutters;
  • Standard wire cutters;

Disassembly is carried out in order. The first step is to remove the panel on top. Using a positive screwdriver, unscrew the screws holding the top panel. The next step is to dismantle the control panel; to do this, remove the detergent dispenser. Then unscrew the 2 bolts holding the distributor and move the left side of the control panel 90ᵒ. Next, you need to unhook the electrical panel from the mounting pawl.

It is necessary to use a service hook to rotate the electrical panel 180° and hang the panel from the side on the wall of the washing machine.

Next, you need to remove the service panel, open the hatch, remove the clamp using a screwdriver, remove the cuff and remove the central panel. The central panel is dismantled along with the car window and the hatch locking connector is disconnected. Next, using pliers, you need to remove the hose from the hatch cuff, the clamp, and the cuff. Reassembly must be done in exactly the reverse order.

No indicator lights

If the machine does not show an error code and does not work, you should check the availability of power and the functionality of the electronic module.
